Letter From New Area League Coordinator
Happy New Year PGCTL Participants and Friends:
For those of you who do not know me, I am Janette O. Logan (aka J.O.L). I have recently been asked and agree to represent "Our Great County" as the Area League Coordinator (ALC). While I am new to this position, I am not new to the "tennis community" of Prince George's County. Since 2008, I have played tennis and captained numerous Maryland District Championship and Mid-Atlantic Sectional Finalist teams under the name of "Vicious Vollies". For the past year, I have served as the Maryland District Player Liaison, whereby, I assisted new players with finding teams throughout the state of Maryland. I am currently employed by a networking/telecommunications giant as a government services sales representative. I have held a number of leadership positions over my twenty-eight (28) year tenure and the most rewarding was an opportunity to take a fourth place sales team to a first place team in 2 years.
I am so excited to have been asked to serve as the ALC of "Our Great County". With so many great people, talented players, great landscaping and facilities, I am looking forward to leading "Our Great County" to the next level. I am a firm believer in the adage, Rome was not built overnight" and another favorite is "Anything that is worth having, is worth working for"! I am also a believer in a "Great Leader" not only leads by example but also surrounds themselves with talented, hard-workers that share a common goal. With that, I have asked Barbara Kirven, Horace Martin and Lilah Blackstone to assist me in my new role.
As the 2012 season is just beginning, we are aggressively working to start our first league of the year, Winter Mixed Doubles. We will have 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0 levels. The league will run from Feb. 4th thru April 7th. If you are interested in playing on the team please complete the form on the "I Want To Play" tab of the website or you may contact myself or any one of the above named individuals. You can find our contact information under the "League Contacts" tab.
We are also preparing for the fastly approaching 2012 Adult Spring Season. We are endeavoring to have teams at the 2.5, 3.0, 3.5 and 4.0 levels for men and women. If you are interested in captaining a team, please feel free to contact me or any of the above named individuals ASAP! This is the best time of the year to organize your Spring team.
Finally and perhaps, most importantly, I would like to ask any of you reading this message, if you are interested in serving as a volunteer, in order to continue the growth of the game we all love "TENNIS" in "Our Great County", please feel free to reach out to me or any one of the above named individuals and advise us on how you would like to help.
Thank you in advance for a GREAT 2012 TENNIS SEASON
J.O.L.
